Children Kyu

For those in Children classes, age 5-12 years old*:

12th Kyu Red Min. 3 months of regular practice. At least 5 years old (by year)
11th Kyu Red Gold Min. 4 months regular practice after obtaining 12th Kyu
10th Kyu Yellow Min. 4 months of regular practice after obtaining 11th Kyu
9th Kyu Orange Min. 4 months of regular practice after obtaining 10th Kyu
8th Kyu Green Min. 4-6 months of regular practice after obtaining 9th Kyu
7th Kyu Purple Min. 6 months of regular practice after obtaining 8th Kyu
6th Kyu Blue Min. 6 months of regular practice after obtaining 7th Kyu
6th Kyu Blue Silver Min. 6 months of regular practice after obtaining 6th Kyu (Blue)
5th Kyu Blue Gold Min. 6 months of regular practice after obtaining 6th Kyu (Blue-Silver)
4th Kyu Brown Min. 10 months of regular practice after obtaining 5th Kyu (Blue-Gold)
4th Kyu Brown Silver Min. 10 months of regular practice after obtaining 4th Kyu (Brown)
3rd Kyu Brown Gold Min. 8-10 months of regular practice after obtaining 4th Kyu (Brown-Silver)
2nd Kyu Black^ Min. 10 months of regular practice after obtaining 3th Kyu (Brown-Gold). At least 12 years old (by year)
2nd Kyu Black Silver Min. 10 months of regular practice after obtaining 2th Kyu (Black)

Children will have to transfer to an Adult class once they reach 13 years old (by year), and they will go for Adult Grading. Minimum age is 12 years old to be eligible for 2nd Kyu (Black) Grading.

Adult Kyu & Junior Dan

For those in Adult classes, age 13 & above:

Junior Dan Blue Hakama^ Min. 9 months and at least 62 regular training sessions after obtaining 1st Kyu For 14 years old (by year) and below with local certification

Intermediate grades that may be awarded by the Grading Panel upon their assessment. Adults who obtained Intermediate grades may grade again at the next available grading. Ladies may wear a blue Hakama after obtaining 6th Kyu & black Hakama after 2nd Kyu. Junior Dan is open for teenagers age 14 and below only. Junior dan holders can wear a blue Hakama.

Dan

With international certification from Aikido World Headquarters, Japan:

4th Dan (Yodan) Min. 42 months after obtaining 3rd Dan At least 400 regular training sessions

Minimum age is 15 years old to be eligible for 1st Dan Grading. Men can wear a black Hakama upon obtaining 1st Dan. Minimum age is 26 years old to be eligible for 4th Dan Grading.

All Dan grades are strictly by recommendation from the Chief Instructor or Principal Dojo Instructor and subject to SGAC approval. Within 6 months upon recommendation, all Dan applicants are to attend 3 training *sessions with Chief Instructor at HQ. (*non-chargeable)
